Why Buy an Electric Fireplace Vs. a Gas Fireplace?

Here are 6 reasons why an electric fireplace is a great product:

1. Intitial Cost
Rather than spending thousands to get a gas fireplace installed along with all the venting or having a chimney built for a wood-burning fireplace, a free standing Compact electric costs under $200 !

2. You'll Use It More
No hassles of buying, chopping and storing the wood. While a flip of the swich turns on a gas fireplace, you always have the heat from it. The electric model allows you to have just the flames or the flames and the heat.

3. It's Moveable
That's right. Just unplug it and take it to a different room.Just take it to the room where you want to play games with Lego sets or Carrera slot cars. Can't do that with a gas or wood-burning firpleace.

4.Ongoing Cost
The electric will cost you 6-8 cents an hour vs the high cost of wood or gas. You'll save enough, so that popcorn from your Cuisinart Popcorn Maker tastes even better !

5. Fits anywhere
Since they are smaller and don't need an special venting, insulation or a  chimney, you can use it anywhere in the room you want !  Under that drafty window, or against the wall.

6. Keeps You and Your Family/Friends Warm On Cold Nights
It will provide heat to your family room, recreation room, kitchen etc. as it heats 400 sq feet for only pennies an hour. No more cold spots on those chilly nights.

Installing the Glass/Mirror For DFB4047 Dimplex 23" Fireplace with Trim

Installing the glass for this Dimplex unit is very simple and only takes a few steps!

  • When you receive the 23’’ fireplace take all of the bubble wrap out of the box and remove the fireplace.
  • Unscrew the grill that is in front of the logs (Screws are located at the sides)
  • Take the mirror (smaller of the two glasses) and insert it into the fireplace at the back. You will have to unscrew the two side screws (On the outside of the fireplace) on both sides in order to get the bracket to lower. The top goes in first and then the bottom lays on the bracket on the bottom
  • The log set goes in next and just sits in place
  • The front grill is next and there are two screws that are holding it, just screw them in.
  • Once the grill set is in, the glass goes in the front with two black clips screwed in at the bottom of the glass.

What to look for when buying an electric fireplace : Top Questions asked!

#1.  Do they really heat that much?

  • All of our current Dimplex models will heat up a room approx. 20' x 20' (400 Sq feet). They throw out significant heat while making it a comfortable environment for all in the room.
  • Many happy customers have used Dimplex Electric Fireplaces to heat up their rooms during those cold winter nights, with most Dimplex units coming with a controlled heat switch you can set it to what you please.

#2.  Where should I put it?

  • If you have purchased a compact/stove fireplace there are quite a few places that are recommended, your garage, your basement or a smaller room. The compact/stove units are ideal to warm up those cold rooms
  • If you have purchased an insert it is best to make that one of the focus points of your room due to the ambiance it will have in your room. The dimplex units have such a realistic look to them that many guests will indeed think it is real. If you don't believe us...tell your friends to touch the flames.

#3.  But surely they must cost a lot to run or purchase?

  • Completely incorrect! Infact Dimplex fireplaces are extremely cost effective at roughly 4 to 6 cents per hour on full heat. Electric fireplaces are an extremely reasonable way to heat up your room without noticing a big increase in your monthly bills.
  • Dimplex fireplaces at Wesellit.ca are extremely affordable ranging from $99.99 to $649.99. We have a wide range of fireplaces from small to large and for all parts of your house.

#4  Does it matter that it is Dimplex?

  • If you want the best brand name fireplace, most realistic flame and world leader in electric fireplaces then you surely want to go with a Dimplex. Not only do they provide realistic fireplaces but their quality and lifetime of each unit is exceptional. We have carried Dimplex brand for many years and would continually recommend it to all.

#5 How fast can I get this installed?
  • Dimplex electric fireplaces are extremely easy to install, infact it would actually be faster for you to put the fireplace in your house and plug it in making it functional then it took me to write this sentence for you....now that is quick!

#6 Is there anything else I need to know?
  • It is key to know what size fireplace you will need to fit in whether it be an insert or a stand-alone unit. If you go to www.wesellit.ca you will see all the fireplaces have the exact dimensions on them so all you need to do is pick which size works for you.
  • Their are no hidden costs on Electric fireplaces and no additional up-keep on them.
  • If you are getting a larger sized Dimplex unit (23" insert +) I would recommend having it on a dedicated outlet.
  • We have had hundreds of happy customers as well as our own family members use Dimplex fireplaces. We have been very satisfied with their quality and would highly recommend them to all!

The questions above are what we believe are the important facts to know about an Electric fireplace as we want to make your research that much easier. My parents as well as my girlfriend have Dimplex units in their houses and I believe in getting the best quality item for them and will say I could not be happier with the units I purchased over 2 years ago for them. If you are in the market to get an Electric fireplace then surely it should be a Dimplex.

Initializing your Dimplex Remote Control - For Most Dimplex Fireplaces

In order to initialize your one piece remote with your electric fireplace, you need to check to see what type of controls you have. Majority of the fireplaces will have this type of control.

Screen_shot_2010-06-28_at_11
When initializing the remote for your fireplace when having this style of buttons, you need to hold down the bottom of the button (right side of picture where the blue arrow is) Hold the button down once the middle light starts to blink (where the red arrow is) When you see the red light blinking, press the ON button on the remote and the fireplace should turn on (if not then press the on button again on the remote) If it doesn’t work then unplug the fireplace for 5 seconds and restart this process.

If you have a fireplace that has this type of button then all you have to do is unplug the unit for five seconds, plug it back in and make sure this button is pushed down to the bottom (push the “l l” in towards the fireplace) Press the ON button on the remote and your fireplace should turn on.
